She/Her

I'm Aruna Akilan, originally from India and now proud to call Halifax, Nova Scotia home. I've been living in Canada for about three years, and during that time I've built a career in Human Resources that's grounded in people, purpose, and creating workplaces where everyone feels supported.
I completed my studies in Business Management and Business Analytics, which gave me a strong foundation in understanding both people and data—a combination that continues to shape how I approach HR every day.
Before joining Remember When HealthCare, I gained experience in logistics, retail, and the non-profit sector. Working in healthcare has been especially rewarding because I can see the impact Human Resources has behind the scenes. Supporting the people who care for others is meaningful work, and I believe HR helps create an environment where both employees and clients can thrive.
What I enjoy most about my role is getting to know our team members and helping create a workplace where they feel welcomed, supported, and appreciated. When our employees feel confident and cared for, they're able to provide the compassionate, person-centred care our clients and families deserve.
Outside of work, I love exploring everything Halifax has to offer. You'll often find me hiking local trails, spending time with friends, reading, or discovering new cafés and beautiful coastal spots around the city. I've always been a mountain person at heart, but since moving to Nova Scotia I've definitely fallen in love with the beaches.
I'm passionate about continuous learning, building meaningful relationships, and making a positive difference through my work. I'm excited to continue growing both personally and professionally with Remember When HealthCare, and I'm grateful to be part of a team dedicated to helping people remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.
